Palenque Mayan Ruins

Palenque Mayan Ruins hidden Mayan City buried deep into the jungle.

Located in the southwest side of Mexico, Palenque Mayan Ruins shines within the dense rain forest jungle.

In the past was an important trade point for other Mayan Cities, now in ruins when in the past It was all covered with white  limestone powder and painted in bright colors.

The access to this Mayan City now more accesible than some year ago.

Visitors need to drive towards Palenque town in Chiapas State and  just drive 10 minutes away, It is what separates the recent with the past.

Many questions come into account, how do they built this city, access wasn’t easy as It is nowadays.

How do they bring all those stones, considering Chiapas is a rainy area and walking just on foot is very muddy and slippery.

It’s known this Mayan city took years to finish the construction.

Why they chose a so humid and rainy place where humidity affects event threes, clearly a bright civilization to deal with this.

Tall threes are found in the the rain forest jungle of Palenque, some of them already grow on top of some ruined buildings.

XII building located next to Temple of Inscriptions is the first building to look at when come into the Mayan City for the first time, the majesty of the city awe new and frequent visitors like me, built in the 7th century Palenque is still amazing to visit.

Temple of Inscriptions is named after found many information about Mayans, how they live, what they eat, how they fight, The Maya civilization were warlike and military mainly not like Aztecs and other cultures.

To avoid Palenque City foods, Mayans built support walls on the river so it smoothly flows away, a smart knowledge for the age, in tabasco state people has deal with foods for years and so far they have not totally swipe out the issue.

It estimated that Palenque’s population was around 300,000 people, The Temple of Inscriptions was the monument in memory of Pakal and each step indicated the years Pakal lived,  the Temple was finish after his death and the tomb was built previously any other level of this building link pyramid.

Another view from the Temple of the Cross of the Temple of the foliated Cross clearly shows the surrounded rain forest jungle, how do the Mayan civilization determine this location to build one of the Mayan’s most important cities

The Temple of the cross is passed by threes which makes views more spectacular

The temple is a pyramid containing molding figures inside. It  was built to celebrate Chan Bahlum II and the figures inside reveal Chan Bahlum getting a gift from his precursor.

The cross found inside the building suggest the names given to the buildings, but the cross suggest that represents the World Tree found in the world’s center based on Mayan mythology
